Half-Day Tour - designed to give a general overview of the Churchill area. Topics range

Hike

Combine time with the beautiful, vocal Beluga Whales and the rugged scenery of the West Peninsula.
Visit Sloops Cove where the Hudson Bay Company's
Samuel Hearne carved his name in the Precambrian
rock. Immerse yourself in the history of the Hudson
Bay Company as they attempted to establish a
foothold in the fur trade of the north. Explore the rock formations, fossils and plants of this very different outcrop. Minimum tour length is 6 hours (governed by tide times). Minimum
3 people.
Please Note: You will need a boxed lunch and repellant. Bear security is provided and the guide will be
in radio contact with Churchill. Rates upon request.

Low Tide Hiking

Explore tidal flats and see unique rock formations from
a different perspective. Discover life in the tidal
pools. Walk out to Churchill's very own ghost ship - The
Ithaca. Tour times coincide with low tide.

"Off the Beaten Path" Birding

Be part of the migration as we follow the
birds off the beaten path. We go to where the birds
are, away from the road system. Leisurely walking in
the pristine wilderness of Boreal Forest, Taiga,
Tundra and Marine ecosystems surrounding Churchill.
Our motto is "take only pictures, leave only
footprints" and we get only as close as the birds
allow. Short drives to the different areas and the
walking is a low level of difficulty on mostly flat
ground (bring your rubber boots for the marshy
areas). This tour includes full interpretation of
Churchill sights, wildlife, plant life, history,
culture and geology/fossils. Possible sightings of
other wildlife include Polar Bear, caribou, Ring &
Bearded Seal, Red & Arctic Fox and Arctic Hare.

Local Naturalists Paul Ratson and Sheldon Olivier
have lived and worked in Churchill with a combined
experience of over 45 years. Both have extensive
experience in arctic environments and working with
wildlife. Nature 1st. guides are fully trained for
working safely in Polar Bear country.
We will only be offering 1 (one) tour this year and
hope you can join us and share our love for this land.
